History

Beechers is the oldest building on the property. In 1882, United States Naval Captain John S. Barnes, Flag Officer of the North Atlantic Fleet during the Civil War, purchased the land next to Wyndhurst and erected Coldbrooke, now known as Beechers. This Queen Anne-style shingled house with a central gable was designed by Peabody and Sterns and is located near the first tee of the golf course.
